Vlad Magdalin steps down as CEO of Webflow

I’m honored to share that Linda Tong — our COO and President for the last two years — is stepping up to become Webflow’s new CEO, while I step into a new Chief Innovation Officer role. In the spirit of transparency, I’m including the full note that I shared with the Webflow team earlier today:

Summary:

Hi everyone,

Ahead of our Webflow Together meeting later today, I wanted to share some very important news with you all. I’m passing the CEO baton to Linda Tong — our fearless COO and President for the last two years — to bring the full force of her deep experience and infectious energy to lead Webflow in this next chapter.

To be clear, I’m not going anywhere! I’m taking on a new full-time role as Webflow's Chief Innovation Officer, and will dive deep into what I do best — helping our teams build a world-class Website Experience Platform, exploring new product innovations, learning from our incredible customers and community, recruiting new folks to this amazing team, spreading the Webflow message externally, and partnering closely with our leadership team to build an enduring company. I’ll also continue as Chair of Webflow’s Board of Directors, which Linda formally joins this week as well.

You might ask – why Linda, and why now?

For those of you who’ve had the privilege of working with her over the last few years and seeing her take on more and more responsibility across the company, Linda becoming our next CEO might feel entirely obvious. In fact, after her fiery and inspirational closing keynote speech at our team retreat in Quebec City just a few weeks ago, many of you pulled me aside privately and expressed how much you want her unquenchable desire to win together and her infectious energy to permeate throughout Webflow. And it’s so clear why that sentiment exists — because from day one, she has been my #1 partner in navigating scale, tackling unprecedented challenges, and chasing new opportunities. Linda deeply understands our team, our customers, our partners, our community, our business, and our culture. And she has led businesses many times larger than Webflow in the past, and has a proven track record of navigating the kinds of scale that are still ahead of us. She’s the perfect fit for this role.

Why now? Webflow is at a pivotal moment in our journey. Thanks to your hard work — and our incredible community of passionate customers — we’ve reached milestones that the vast majority of startups only dream of. We serve hundreds of thousands of customers all over the world, have scaled our business to hundreds of millions in revenue, and we’ve created a platform that countless people rely on every day to make a living. But to achieve our grand ambitions, we need extraordinary collaboration, execution, and innovation. With Linda and I focusing on our strengths, I’m confident that we’ll be able to get there much faster. And with my pre-planned sabbatical already scheduled to start next week, it felt like there’s no better time than now for Linda to fully lean into her role as our new CEO.

So it’s with immense confidence and gratitude that I — along with resounding support from our board and co-founders — entrust Linda to foster and grow Webflow’s mission, team, culture, and business to new heights. And it’s with humility and optimism that I step into my new role, in close partnership with Linda and the rest of our leadership team, to make Webflow better than ever.
